Residents across Kent are invited to get moving this summer with a free county-wide walking and wheeling challenge, powered by the WeRoam app and united by one collective goal: walking the length of Kent’s King Charles III England Coast Path together.

What is the Kent Coast Big Walk and Wheel?

KCC, in partnership with Active AI Ltd, Explore Kent and Active Kent and Medway, is proud to launch the Kent Coast Big Walk and Wheel which is a free, six-week county-wide challenge running from Saturday 25 July to Monday 31 August 2026.

It is open to walkers and wheelchair users of all ages and abilities across Kent. Whether participants are exploring the coastline, commuting on foot or taking a lunchtime stroll around the block, every mile counts, and every mile adds to something much bigger.

Walk the coast path together

The King Charles III England Coast Path stretches around 200 miles through Kent and is one of England's most spectacular long-distance walking routes. This summer, we're asking the whole WeRoam community to walk the combined distance together.

The collective challenge is simple: every mile logged by every participant across Kent adds to a shared county total. You don't need to be on the coast to contribute, a walk to the shops, a lunchtime loop through town, or an evening stroll through a local park all count. Wherever you roam in Kent, your miles are part of the story.

What's involved: Six weeks, three prize draws

A prize draw takes place every two weeks throughout the challenge. Log just one activity during the challenge and you're automatically entered. No special steps are required.

Surprise gold marker events

Time-limited Gold Markers will drop across Kent with no advance notice during the challenge period. Open the WeRoam app, check the map, and be in the right place at the right time to claim them, alongside exclusive rewards from local Kent partners including Shepherd Neame and Produced in Kent.

Walk or wheel, everyone is welcome

The Kent Coast Big Walk and Wheel is built for all ages and abilities. "Wheel" means wheelchair users are fully included, this is a challenge for the whole community. Please note, cycling does not count towards the collective total in this particular challenge, but will still contribute to your overall Roam Ranking and level progression.
