Having received confirmation from Dartford Borough Council's Electoral Services Manager that there has been no call for a By-Election for the PARISH Council Ward of Maypole & Leyton Cross, the co-option process, in accordance with the Council's Co-Option Policy, can commence.

Any person interested in becoming a Wilmington Parish Councillor is invited to contact the Parish Clerk by e-mailing [email protected] to obtain-

  • a copy of the Council's Co-Option Polkicy
  • a Guide to become a Parish Councillor and
  • an Application Form (which contains the qualification criteria which requires at least one being met)

In addition to submitting an Application Form, an applicant is asked to submit a written summary covering their reasons for wishing to be a Wilmington Parish Councillor; previous community/council work; any other skills they can bring to the Council; their interests and recent career history.- similar to that which they would produce if standing for election.

The completed Application Form and summary should be submitted, either electronically to clerk-wpc@outlook,com or by post to The Parish Clerk, Wilmington Parish Council; Oakfield Park Pavilion, The Spires, Wilmington DA1 2TD, no later than 30th July 2025.

Please note that, as the Council does not meet in August, applications will not be reviewed and the co-opted Councillor selected until the Meeting of the Council on Wednesday 3rd September 2025.

The Parish Clerk is willing to talk to any person wishing to have more information but a mutually convenient date and time will have to be agreed through an exchange of e-mails.

This co-option process applies only to the PARISH Ward of Maypole & Leyton Cross; a By-Election is to be held on 17th July 2025 for the BOROUGH Ward of Maypole & Leyton Cross (See separate news item)
