Partial Closure of the A2 to A282 flyover (M25/Junction2 - darentth Interchange)
Wilmington Parish Council
Partial weekend closure of the A2 to A282 flyover, M25 J2 Darenth Interchange, Kent
8pm Saturday 6 September to 5:30am Monday 8 September 2025
Connect Plus Services works on behalf of National Highways and Connect Plus to manage, operate and maintain the M25 and its linking roads, including the Dartford-Thurrock River Crossing.
I’m writing to let you know about extensive resurfacing work on the flyover which links the A2 westbound with the A282 northbound, towards the Dartford Crossing at M25 junction 2.
We’ll need to close the flyover over part of a weekend to resurface it safely in one continuous operation. The flyover will close from 8pm on Saturday 6 September and remain closed throughout Sunday 7 September, reopening by 5:30am on Monday 8 September 2025.
Diversion information
A fully signed diversion route will be in place via the M25 junction 2 Darenth Interchange while the work is underway. The traffic signals around the interchange will be reconfigured to help manage traffic through the junction while the flyover is closed.
The carriageway on the flyover is beginning to show signs of deterioration which means maintenance interventions are becoming more frequent, often at short notice. We’ll completely replace the road surface, where this is happening, to make a durable and permanent repair. The work will help keep journeys safe, improve journey time reliability, and reduce the number of times the flyover is closed for maintenance.
We’ve planned to do this work at a weekend while there is less traffic, however, we’re expecting delays around M25 junction 2 at peak times during the Sunday. If you need to travel while this work is taking place, we recommend you plan ahead and leave extra time for journeys.
We’ll reopen the flyover as soon as the new materials have sufficiently cooled and strengthened enough for the road to be driven on.
Please remember that closures can change at short notice. For the latest information, please visit www.nationalhighways.co.uk/travel-updates and www.nationalhighways.co.uk/se-maintenance.
