Congratulations to Leigh Academy Wilmington om being awarded the British Council's International School Award.

The Award, managed by the British Council, started in 1999 to acknowledge schools leading the way in instilling and developing a global dimension into the learning experience of all children and young people.

The Academy`s international work leading to the Award, included a colaborative digital exchange with India, French and Colombian penpal programmes, a 'Made in Japan' project and a 'War for Water' environmental study.

On hearing news of the Academy's success the Principle, Michael Gore, said - 'We are immensley proud to receive this prestigious recognition. At Leigh Academy Wilmington we strive to provide an education that transcends borders, equipping our students with the empathy and global perspective required for the modern world'.

The Award was presented at a ceremony held in Westminster on 2nd February attended by Members of Parliament and representatives of schools from around the UK.
